State Officer Elections

State Officer Candidates

  • State Officer Candidates will be interviewed via Zoom before State Career Development Conference.

  • During the opening session, the State Officer Candidates will deliver a brief statement (3-5 minutes maximum) to the delegation at the Opening General Session. The content of the message should include introductory information, reasons for interest in the position, qualifications, and describe your involvement in Collegiate DECA. You may use note cards.

  • At competition, State Officer Candidates may use their time when they are not competing to meet with students/voting delegates on a one-on-one basis to share their personal brand and why they would like to be a State Officer.

  • The candidate with the most votes will be President. The next two individuals receiving the highest number of votes that have stated willingness to serve as vice president shall be elected as vice presidents.

Voting

  • Missouri Collegiate DECA will exercise its membership voting privileges through Voting Delegates. Each local chapter shall have five (5) base votes per Charter Chapter (a Charter requires a minimum of ten members by the Initial Membership Deadline of November 15th), and one additional vote for each additional ten members in excess of the base Chapter Charter requirements. The basis for the number of voting delegates for chartered chapters shall be determined by the number of members identified on the roster received by the state office for the second semester deadline.

    • Alumni and Professional Members will count towards your Chapter Membership total.

  • All voting delegates will be entitled to individual vote.

  • After all candidates deliver his/her statement, voting will open for delegates to cast their ballots for the State President. All votes need to be received by 1pm on day of the State Career Development Conference.

  • At competition, State Officer Candidates may use their time when they are not competing to meet with students/voting delegates on a one-on-one basis to share their personal brand and why they would like to be a State Officer.
